ADVERTISEMENTS
A novel in search of a publisher: 'Begetting
- Loss - Recovery', or BLR for short, is a psychological thriller. The
story, told in three parts corresponding to those in the title, deals with
a fear that taps deep into the veins of our society. In the first part the
narrator, Bill, reflects on his relationship with Susan, and the circumstances
which led them to have a child, Belinda. Part two begins with the inexplicable
loss of Belinda, and takes place over seven tense days. Bill describes his
fluctuating mental processes and his impotent practical responses to the
crisis. Part three, which is narrated in the present tense, builds to an
exciting climax.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
These descriptors are only meant as a vague guide
and must be treated with caution. I have not examined
the diaries myself, so the descriptors are only guesses based on bibliographies,
anthologies and internet biographies. In many cases, the diaries mentioned
on this website will contain good content on descriptor topics for which
they have not been listed. There are three types of descriptors: those which
describe broad themes of a diary in general (i.e. literary, social, military
or travel); subjects where the topic is known to have been of some concern
to the diarist (such as weather, education or slavery); and countries outside
of the diarist's home nation (where the diarist is known to have written
about them). The descriptor 'society' is for diaries which record
details about what, for want of a better term, could be called high society,
while 'social' is a descriptor for diaries which record details about
the behaviour and habits of the less privileged. 'Literary' is a
descriptor for diaries considered literary or about the literary world.
'People' is a descriptor for diaries which contain references to
famous characters; and 'historyeye' is a term I've used for diarists
writing with first hand experience of historically famous events. |
